Keep It Bright!

Yellow is the color of summer.  It is easy to keep your wedding bright with pops of yellow in unexpected places.  The Etsy Wedding Team (our sweet sister) provides classic and sometimes untraditional options.  Here are a few of my favorites!!!!

Meet Clay Bouquet Shop

Michelle - Large Vintage style Jeweled Ribbon Headband - Gothic - Black and Purple
Michelle Large Vintage Inspired Jeweled Ribbon Headband
ClaybouquetShop is your one stop shop for amazing clay bouquets, jeweled ribbon headbands, bespoke brooch bouquets, and one of a kind clay accessories.
I asked Jennifer of ClayBouquetShop to tell me a little about herself.  Here is her charming description:

I started crafting for my own wedding, as I didn't want to spend a trillion dollars (okay, that's a bit of an exaggeration), and I've always loved "creating." I was encouraged by family, friends, and wedding vendors to continue making bridal items, and here I am.
I'm a data analyst by day, working for a health insurance company. So I really enjoy coming home and creating beautiful things after running code and reports all day.
My husband and I live with our three cats, and hope to move to a sustainable home in the next year or so, with a solar/wind hybrid system, a fruit orchard and an organic garden in the plans. (If I can sneak a few alpacas, goats and chickens into the barn while my husband is sleeping, all will be right with the world.   That's when I'll replace my VW, whichs run on either diesel or vegetable oil, with an EV (electric vehicle). Yep, I am pretty passionate about this.
You go girl!

Member Feature: Robot In Bloom

Like any bride, you have an idea how you want your wedding to look- especially the flowers. Today's feature is on Offbeat Etsy Weddings Team Member RobotinBloom, whose specialty (and we mean SPECIALTY) is handmade paper flowers.

Now, paper flowers have a HUGE benefit over flowers from a florist:
  1. They don't have to be kept in water (or cooled), and will not wilt
  2. You can keep them forever
  3. Many look so realistic, nobody would ever know (unless you wanted them to)
  4. All the stress of working with a florist is completely gone- you can have full control over how it looks, and availability
  5. You're no longer limited to the range of typical flower colors
  6. You don't have to worry about your favorite flower being in season, or the prices for them!

I think in situations like this, a picture is worth a thousand words:

This Pink Swan bouquet is lively and bright- just the thing for a summer bride, or your bridesmaids!

And this Peony Daisy bouquet has a gorgeous, bright cascade of flowers down the front- it's hard to believe it's paper!

This Custom Paper Flower bouquet has such a retro feel, it would go well at any offbeat bride's event.

This Bridesmaid Bouquet has just the right colors for a summer or fall wedding.

She does gorgeous custom work, and comes highly recommended by her previous customers! Swing by her shop today, and try not to drool all over the flowers- remember, they're paper!

Wedding Bouquet Rollergirl Style

Rollergirl Bouquet from Floricultcha
Amy (Floricultcha) offers brides a non-floral, funky, funny and unique bouquet alternative.  She uses vintage, retro items, ribbons and other embellishments to create one of a kind sculptural wedding bouquets meant for weddings that seek to represent the couple instead of the industry.  Amy is very well educated in sculpture and horticulture and uses this knowledge to create wedding flowers that are considered "art".  She has also worked with live flowers for weddings and often uses that experience when working on new designs.  Amy lives just outside of Boston with a husband that encourages her to fill their home with the wonderful oddities that make her happy.  Her interests have never been mainstream but she appreciates the symbolism behind her flowers and truly hopes that they become cherished heirlooms.
I asked Amy to tell me why she is unique and what made her feel passion for these non-traditional creations.  This was her fabulous response:
I love seeing all the different themes that are being incorporated into contemporary weddings.  It inspires me to brainstorm non-traditional ideas for bouquets. It's wonderful that the white wedding no longer dominates the world of weddings or that even if a bride chooses a traditional white gown there are more options for adding personal touches. There are additional styles that reflect what they really like or who they really are, rather than trying to fit into to the mainstream. That is like trying to squeeze into a gown that doesn't fit. There are so many different couples and different attitudes about marriage and what it represents.  I also think folks involved in helping with alternative weddings begin to embrace these changes and often find that the changes are more genuine and indicative of the couples' lifestyle or what brought them together in the first place. -Amy-

I couldn't agree more!

To quote Amy, "Who can resist unicorns, rainbows, roller skates, disco balls and hot pink hot pants?".  Me either Amy!  Rollergirl Rocks!!!!!
